Heroes award spotlight on shortlisted individuals - John Talbot - Highway Care

With just under 2 months to go until this year's Highways Heroes awards we showcase some of the individuals who the judges have shortlisted for the prestigious awards at this year's event.

This week we highlight one of those shortlisted for our Lifetime Achievement Award, John Talbot, Chairman of Highway Care.

John has been dedicated to raising standards of safety in the highways industry for more than 45 years. He has worked tirelessly to seek out and develop innovative solutions that have made roads safer for highways operatives and road users alike, raising standards of best practice and saving lives.

Back in 1976, John’s vegetation management business was responsible for managing roadsides where authorities wanted to inspect safety barriers with a good line of sight. John felt a responsibility to seek out a solution to protect workers and vehicles. His search took him across the US on a journey of more than 6,000 miles to find the right solution. The result was the introduction of a rapidly-deployable, temporary safety barrier to the UK for the first time.

A natural problem-solver, John began to realise the huge need for safety solutions to keep both highways operatives and vehicle users safe on the UK’s roads.

Taking place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Soho on 30th November, the sell out event will not only recognise those who have gone above and beyond their duty, but also those that have helped someone or improved a situation, either in the communities they work in or to unconditionally support fellow workers in their team, with Will a special guest at the event where the achievements of our unsung heroes will be recognised.
